20.4.16 Suesue

Given the fact that my boyfriend lives in Galway and I have been to this city multiple times, I'll give some highlights of must see - must eat - must experience places... all experienced myself and these are 100% my own opinion!

1. Creole
One of the restaurants that gave me a 'wow' factor when I was in Galway for the first time is: Creole. This is a BBQ & Grill restaurant in town centre at 49 Lower Dominick st. This place is a must if you want a special & romantic fine dining. I got the Cajun Chicken Rice, which is the BEST cajun chicken and rice I have ever had (great for spicy lovers). In addition, the service was great too!

2. Kylemore Abbey
Probably the biggest castle I have ever seen. This castle is originally built by Henry as a gift for his wife (how romantic?!). Between then and now, there has been many changes in ownership as well as the castle structure itself. Now, the property is owned by a group of Nuns. Definitely a must visit in a gorgeous and peaceful environment.

3. Sky Road
If you'd ask me: what is the #1 highlight of Galway? I'd say Sky Road, definitely. Sky Road is a car route along the coast with several loops that provides the most incredible view ever.  It is quite a ride from Galway city centre, since it's located in Connemara, however it is totally worth it to do a road trip in Connemara in my opinion. This treasure is truly mesmerising.

4. Esquires Coffee
I didn't know Esquires Coffee is a chain until I looked it up. I'm sure about the other locations, however this little gem can be found across Eye Square. What made this coffee shop special is the face they serve organic coffee and food and they have most friendly, open and kind service. Both coffee and food (BLT Bagel!!) are amazing and I'd definitely point them as my go to study place!

5. The King's Head
The King's Head located in the middle of Galway City Centre might be one of the most popular pubs in town (with a rich history apparently), however in my opinion: don't go there for your pints, but go for their Rib-Eye steak! I hope that one time, that dish is not an exceptional, but that their Rib-Eye steak is their standard quality. I have truly never ever had such a juicy, tender and tasteful piece of meat before! Well done!
